Final Project
For this final project, I decided to spin off of Marco's 3 Perspectives video. In his video he talked about his journey as a soccer player going through highs and lows, places he's been through, and included snippets of his life. Earlier in the semester, I had done a personal project about my testimony so wanted to revisit that. Marco used video as his medium to convey his story, but I decided to go with words and performance. I wrote a short poem depicting the journey I've been through, mainly about my faith.
The Runner’s Revelation
In the whisper of night, where dreams are
spun,
A change, profound, can suddenly be won.
Not in the stillness, but through trials and
tears,
My soul transformed, finally, after years.
In halls of high school, where laughter rings,
I sought my worth in fleeting, earthly things.
Sports, friends, and eyes upon my face,
I defined my joy, worth, and pace.
Yet in the games, where glory was sought,
A shadow lingered, and my soul was caught.
Points and praise, though sweet, could not
suffice,
The deeper thirst remained, a hidden vice.
Through volleyball’s heights and track’s swift
grace, I chased the light in a relentless race.
Injuries and lows brought darkness near,
The hollow echoes of a silent fear.
Then in Eleventh grade, a turbulent tide,
Brought about an emptiness that no applause
could hide.
Emotionally drained, spiritually dry,
I yearned for more beneath the starless sky.
As Summer dawned, I fled to camp’s embrace,
Seeking fun, yet finding truth’s fierce face.
Questions pierced like arrows to my core,
“Are you content?” they asked, and so much
more.
My walls crumbled under truth’s bright glare,
Revealing wounds I didn’t know were there.
In God’s love, I found a boundless grace,
A light to guide me, without a fake face.
Returning to the court, a change profound,
My spirit was lifted by the love I’d found.
No longer playing for my glory’s sake,
But for a purpose nothing could outtake.
We played for Him, our hearts aligned,
In every jump and sprint, we shined.
Comrades in faith, we shared a sacred bond,
United in the love that lies beyond.
My worth now rests in something true and
grand,
Not in the points, nor in the cheers’ command.
A child of God, in His image made,
I run with joy, unburdened and unafraid.
Each race, a prayer, each game, a song of
praise.
In his light, I’ve found my endless days.
The court became a place of holy ground.
Where every move, His glory can be found.
As I embark on paths at Westmont’s gate,
With a heart renewed and a hope so great,
I chase the future, with faith my guide,
In every stride, God’s love and light abide.
For in the journey, I have come to see,
That true freedom lies in His divinity.
With every leap, every sprint I take,
I try to glorify his name, for His love’s sake.
No more a slave to others’ fleeting praise,
My eyes are fixed on everlasting days.
Through trials faced and victories won,
My life, a testament to God’s own Son.
And when my bones and muscles start to tire,
I’ll find my strength in His eternal fire.
For even when my earthly race is done,
In Heaven’s realm, the true race has begun.
With every breath, I’ll praise His name,
For in His love, I shed my shame.
A runner in His endless grace,
I stand in whole, though His embrace.
